Description:

The Lazy Elephant is a thoughtfully crafted application designed to impart moral lessons on ethics and the importance of family and hard work to young children. The narrative follows a curious young elephant, who, despite being intelligent, is hindered by his laziness in seeking food and knowledge. His journey takes him into the woods alongside his friends, where he becomes lost and confronts the challenges of hunger, ultimately leading to transformative life lessons.

Children will find enjoyment in the elephant’s misadventures and the engaging storytelling presented in American Sign Language (ASL), complemented by striking illustrations that capture attention. Furthermore, this bilingual app offers a comprehensive vocabulary index featuring both signed and fingerspelled terms, comprised of 144 words. Notably, The Lazy Elephant is also available in Thai Sign Language and Thai.

This initiative has been made possible through a collaboration between Gallaudet University's Motion Light Lab—part of the Visual Language and Visual Learning Center—and the National Association of Deaf Thailand, with invaluable support from the US Embassy in Bangkok and the US Department of State.
